Hotel Statler Addition (1909-1910)

The great success of the Hotel Statler resulted in a 150-room addition, begun a year after the hotel opened. The exterior of the addition repeated the elements of the original, but on the interior historicism (reliance on historical styles) largely replaced Art Nouveau, suggesting that the unique design did not meet with public acclaim. Although the ballroom did feature Art Nouveau detailing, the designs for the Dutch Grill Room and English Tap Room reverted to the traditional.
